"I would have never got into the Industry
if I had not gone to the Film School. I can say this without qualification. It gave me
a step up and it gave me a step
into professional life"

Why support the NFTS?

The NFTS is a recognised centre of excellence for training in film and television
And one of the leading film schools in the world. You only need to look at the awards our alumni and students have received in the last couple of years.

NFTS graduates make an enormous economic contribution to the UK
The creative economy as a whole contributes 7.3% to the overall GDP of the UK economy of which over 70% - or 5.6% of total UK output - is contributed by the audiovisual sector. Many of the leading content creators in the audiovisual sector are NFTS alumni.

The NFTS is at the heart of British cultural identity and life
Many of your best loved films and television shows such as the Harry Potter films, Wallace & Gromit, Casino Royale, The Queen, Atonement, Bee Movie, The Golden Compass, Life on Mars, Hotel Babylon, Hustle, Doctor Who and Jane Eyre were created, directed or shot by NFTS alumni and have been sold internationally.

The NFTS contributes to Innovation and Enterprise in the Digital Age
Digital content is produced and distributed through an ever increasing range of platforms and technologies. Rapidly changing technologies increase demand for extensive technical skills including software development and applications, digital technology and broadcasting, as well as computer generated processes. NFTS training ensures that our graduates and participants of CPD training are equipped to meet these challenges.

If you still need convincing, have a look at our student films/tv shows in our screening room and see the calibre of work which is currently being produced by our students and recent graduates.

How is the NFTS funded?

The NFTS is a registered charity (no. 313429). Just over 55% of our core funding derives from statutory grants by DCMS, HEFCE and the UK Film Council via Skillset. We also receive support from the major broadcasters and the Film Distributor's Association. For over 20% of the remainder of our income we rely on grants from trusts, corporate supporters and individuals, student fees and commercial activities.
