Managing Digital Workflows 
This two-day workshop will explain all the implications (and complications) of digital workflows. This workshop is a must for anyone considering shooting on digital who needs to know the choices open to them. With a variety of leading experts as guest speakers, this course will help participants make informed choices.
By the end of the two days participants will have: :
Participants will get a chance to see a variety of digital cameras and will look at different compressions schemes and their uses/differences. There will be a demonstration of a real workflow of capturing high resolution material and how it can be used on-set with a data recorder.
A discussion of the post-production paths, including mastering, archiving and distribution will be included in day 2. Finally, the participants will look at a real-life case study.
The Freelance rate for this course has been subsidised by Skillset’s Film Skills Fund, In order to qualify for this rate you must have been working predominantly in the ‘film sector’ of the UK industry for the past two years.
There is also a further Hardship Fund available for participants who qualify for the Film Skills Fund rate, further details will be provided upon application to the course. The deadline for this additional funding is 5 March 2010.

- a clear understanding of the creative, financial and practical reasons for shooting digitally
- an understanding of how data is captured and managed in a digital system
- the confidence to make financial and creative decisions on whether to go the digital route
and will be able to:
- realise the potential of high-end digital cameras as a film replacement
- know the post-production path for digital cinema and how to maintain metadata
- understand on-set job functions and how they are affected by shooting digitally.
