Alarmed or excited by the massive changes in the media landscape? Commercial TV is in crisis as online now exceeds TV ad spend. Yet BBC Vision’s head of multi-platform has £10m to spend in the next year and even small channels like Living are creating cross-platform elements for their TV series.
This two-day course is aimed at helping you navigate the new landscape of multi-platform commissions and emerging media markets. What does multi-platform or 360 mean for TV creatives? What are the new skills you need and what kind of cross-platform projects do commissioners really want?
Don’t fear the cultural shift, be part of it.
- What are the emergent platforms? Social networks, micro-blogging, online video, phone apps and games consoles.
- Examples of cross-media from the broadcast, corporate and advertising worlds.
- What makes multi-platform projects different from broadcast?
- What are the new ways of working and organizing? Agile management, finding partners, intellectual property.
- How to devise realistic, commissioner friendly, 360 proposals.
- How clients and commissioners are responding to changes in technology and audience expectations.
- Ways of monetising content and what ROI (return on investment) means to clients.
As well as presentations, participants will take part in exercises:
- How to read the sub-text of commissioners’ briefs.
- How to sharpen you pitch.
- How to make your pitch realistic
- How to avoid feature creep and over promising.
