Maxine Baker

Maxine worked as a researcher in documentary departments at the BBC, CBC Toronto and Thames Television before joining Granada Television in 1977. She produced and directed network one-offs and documentary series, including Camera (the birth of Documentary Cinema) Victorian Values; End of Empire and The Benn Diaries. She joined Scottish Television in 1991 as Head of Documentaries and after a year running the NFTS’s documentary department, joined the Scottish Film Council as Chief Executive. Maxine now works as an Independent Producer and is a professor in the documentary department at the Cuban International Film School. Her book, Documentary in the Digital Age (Focal Press), was published in September 2005.
