Script Development TutorAlongside regular training for The Script Factory, Kate is also a freelance script editor and a consultant for a range of producing and financing companies as diverse as DNA Films and Media Plus. In the last few years she has been a Visiting Lecturer at the Northern Film School’s MA Screenwriting Course; a Film Consultant to Penguin books; and a film agent at London literary agency Gillon Aitken Associates, where she represented the film rights for authors ranging from Helen Bridget Jones Fielding to VS Naipaul.
Between 1995 and 2000 she was a commissioning editor and head of development at Film on Four and then FilmFour. Previously she has worked across many aspects of film: she produced and presented film shows for BBC2; worked in sales at Capitol Films; ran a cinema at the ICA; was a script editor in television drama for Tony Garnett at World Productions; and ran the Edinburgh Television Festival. She has been an usherette, a location caterer, and a film festival director; and she has a first class degree in film studies from the University of East Anglia. Kate sits on numerous Production Committees and Advisory Boards.
