James Morrall
BAFTA/Shell Scholar 2008
James Morrall studied sculpture at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design where he gained a first class honours degree. He then worked as a technical consultant in the Arts, specializing in installation design and computer/electronic control systems, before studying for a Masters Degree in Production Design at the NFTS. As a sculptor James became interested more in the “stories” that his work told and in designing them, and since all of his influences were either narrative fiction or films it seemed logical to pursue a career in Production Design.
James has worked on a wide range of productions in the past few years. As a production designer he has designed costumes and landscapes for animation, and composite set builds at both Shepperton Studios for Skillset and at the NFTS as part of his studies. James is currently hunting for work as a concept artist, illustrator and draughtsman.
