Philip Bacon

I studied illustration and animation at Manchester Metropolitan University. I spent the first two years concentrating on illustration, but soon realised that I wanted to see my drawings move. Furthermore, I have always enjoyed creating stories and so I decided to move into the less familiar area of animation in my final year.

I graduated with first class Honours after making several short experimental films, and applied to the NFTS to study animation direction.

During my time at the School I have enjoyed collaborating with others and using a variety of animation techniques. In addition, I feel I have taken the opportunity to develop as a filmmaker.

In the future I hope to make films which tell all kinds of different stories and eventually branch out into live action filmmaking.

Philip Bacon was supported by grants from The Jerusalem Trust and The Dorothy Bulkeley and Cheadle Village Lads’ Charity.

Films at the NFTS include...

Yellow Belly End   Edinburgh International Film Festival, UK; Anima Mundi, Brazil

Blue Ice Cream
