This Sound Recording course - the only one of its kind in the UK - has been developed in response to film and television industry demands for suitably trained sound recordists. It offers an unrivalled opportunity to learn the practical skills required for a career in this field, and covers
  • location sound recording for single film or video camera

  • sound production for multi-camera television

  • music recording in the studio and on location
Workshops alternate with productions so that conceptual elements such as sound theory, electronics, and equipment operating principles are put into immediate practice on shoots or in the studio. To enhance their understanding of the role sound plays in moving image production, students are also introduced to the post production process, and extend this knowledge working as part of the Television Graduation sound post-production team.

Now well-established, the Sound Recording Diploma course enjoys an excellent reputation within the Industry and each year’s students rapidly find work on completing the course. Graduates have been employed as sound assistants and boom operators on recent television productions including Ashes to Ashes, Criminal Justice, Sounds Like Teen Spirit: A Popumentary, Lewis, New Tricks, Holby City, Collision, Cranford, Jane Eyre, Gavin & Stacey, The Bill, Einstein and Eddington, Extras, Footballers’ Wives, Spooks, Life Begins and Judge John Deed; and on feature films such as The Firm, 31 North, 62 East, Telstar, Adulthood, The Last Thakur, Shifty, Mad, Sad and Bad, Syriana, Extraordinary Rendition, The Hills Have Eyes II, The Mutant Chronicles, Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and Layer Cake.
