I have been
studying filmmaking at VGIK since 2006, under the supervision of
A.E.Uchitel. I made my first documentary film The Jump, in
2007. It was well received at a number of international and student
festivals. In 2008 I decided to make a feature, and directed a film
The Flash. The film 'Lost in London', is my first major documentary
piece made abroad.
Film: Lost
in London
2009 | 24 mins | UK
Synopsis
Lost in London is a kaleidoscope of various stories told
by the Russian girls, studying in various institutions in London.
All of them had different reasons to leave their motherland, and
they all have different feelings about studying in the UK. The film
raises the following questions: do these girls have any future in
a new country?
Do they miss
their homes and their friends? Do they feel lost in a foreign city,
or is London just a new stage in their lives, which gives them a
new understanding of themselves and of their places in this world?

Taisia's
experience in London
I will remember this project for the rest of my life. My trip to
London is an invaluable experience of filming abroad, in a condition
of tight temporal constraints, in the unusual circumstances. I am
pleased that, as a director, I have managed to solve the problems.
I think that this project has somehow shaped my personality, it
taught me to concentrate fast and to react immediately, as i was
aware that I won't be able to come back to London for reshoots.
During the shooting
and casting period, I have met a lot of interesting people. I was
also very pleased to have met the staff of NFTS. They'd helped me
a lot, and i thank them!
And of course,
this trip gave me a chance to see with my own eye one of the most
beautiful cities in the world - London.
